2010
In January, Technyx acquires the assets of InteliBuild Limited as well as the right to use its trademark. From its offices in Hong Kong, InteliBuild offers consulting services to customers in Asia, China and the Middle East on construction projects that use BIM and 3D digital models.
The 3D model of the
Consol Energy Center (Pittsburgh Arena), whose structural steel components were detailed by Technyx, is submitted for the 2010 Tekla North America BIM Awards competition and wins in Category 2: Commercial/Institutional Model - Steel. Detailing software developer Tekla hosts this competition each year.
Technyx presents Lyndon Steel with the 2009 Customer of the Year Award under its Customer Recognition Program.
Honored a second time for its work on the Cathay Pacific Cargo Terminal at the Hong Kong International Airport, InteliBuild Technyx Asia wins the 2009 BIMFusion.com Award in the Digital BIM Tools for Coordinating Building Systems category. In 2008, InteliBuild had been presented with the Autodesk BIM Award for this cargo terminal project.
InteliBuild Technyx Asia is designated “second runner-up” in the Golden Helmet category of the Lighthouse Club Safety Awards presented in March. This annual event, organized by the Lighthouse Club in Hong Kong, recognizes excellence in safety in the Hong Kong construction industry.
2009
In July, Technyx obtained Quality Procedures Program (QPP) certification from the
National Institute of Steel Detailing (NISD) for its St. Georges, Boucherville and Quebec City offices. This program certifies that recognized quality assurance procedures have been put in place in order to ensure quality detailing services.
Also in July, Technyx became a member of the
buildingSMART alliance and
Canada BIM Council, two organizations dedicated to interoperability (the capability of different software programs to exchange data and then use that exchanged data) and the development of building information modeling in the construction industry.
In April, Technyx added a new website section devoted exclusively to building information modeling.
Also in April, the
Brasov Chamber of Commerce and Industry presented Technyx Euro Services SRL with an award of excellence in the scope of its annual business awards.
In mid-February, Jean-Luc Lachance, BIM initiatives manager at Technyx, addressed attendees at Événement BIM 2009: Interopérabilité 3D en ingénierie, an event exploring the use of BIM technology in complex engineering applications. This special event, which took place in Quebec City and Montreal, was sponsored by
Consortech, a Brossard-based software solutions firm.
2008
On March 26, Canam Group celebrated the 10th anniversary of its presence in Romania. More than 370 employees from Technyx and
Canam Steel Romania as well as some 20 special guests attended the event.
During a strategic planning session in April, Technyx adopted a development goal to play a leadership role in Building Information Modeling (BIM). Technyx invests in the implementation of business processes and technologies to provide support to business units interested in using this innovative work method. Technyx also makes plans to offer BIM services to its external clientele.
The TechNews bulletin, a quarterly publication that was previously available only to Technyx employees, is posted online.
Technyx launched the C
Client Recognition Program. Four customers are nominated in 2008: Dutch Industries, Empire Iron Works, Basden Steel and Manac.
2007
On November 8, the Technyx office in Kolkata, India celebrated its tenth anniversary. Over 200 people attended the celebrations.
Technyx Euro Services was named “Large-Size Company of the Year” for 2006 in the Professional Services category at the Brasov Business Awards ceremony held this fall in Romania.
Technyx announced the opening of a new business location in Guangzhou, China. This new detailing office brings the total number of Technyx business locations to five, with the four others located in Brasov (Romania), Kolkata (India), Boucherville and St. Georges (Canada).
2006
Technyx continued to progress in 2006. In 2006, Technyx completed 253,000 drafting hours for its internal clientele, that is, Canam Group’s other business units, representing an 18% increase from a year ago.
In 2005, this team produced drawings involving 118,000 tons of structural steel components for a total of 2,338 construction projects. This business unit employs 331 people, representing over 10% of Canam Group’s workforce.
Technyx anticipates a stronger demand for its technical outsourcing services in Canada,
the United States and France in 2006 and the years ahead.
Technyx continues to improve its business processes by integrating new state-of-the-art technological and electronic communication tools that considerably reduce operating costs and increase customer satisfaction.
2005
Technyx has expanded the range of services it offers to its North American and European clientele to include the checking of both shop and structural steel erection drawings.
The Charles de Gaulle Plaza Building, to which Canam Steel Romania contributed, was recognized by the European Convention for Constructional Steelwork (ECCS) at the 2005 European Steel Design Awards.
The Technyx business unit, launched on April 1, 2004, celebrated its first anniversary in Romania.
In 2005, Technyx completed drawings for 118,000 tons of structural steel components to be used in a total of 2,338

Technyx also diversified the offshore services it provides to North American and European steel fabricators.
Among its strategic initiatives in 2005, Technyx renewed its commercial agreement with Steel Plus LLC, a North American buying group.
Activities in Romania are separated into two different companies: Technyx Euro Services will house the outsourcing activities of engineering and detailing while Canam Steel Romania will run as an independent unit and will cover the local and Eastern Europe construction market.
April 2005, Technyx Euro Services is officially active in Romania. Number of employees: 184.
2004
January 1, 2004, Canam Manac's construction products sector reorganizes in accordance with a new strategic plan, and operates through nine separate business units. Technyx International is mandated to provide technical resources services to all business units as well as to take over the outsourcing activities of Canam Steel Romania.
The Group's detailing office in Kolkata, India is integrated to the activities of Technyx Intl. Forty-one employees join our business unit.
The Group's structural steel detailing resources (18 detailers) in Canada are merged into Technyx Intl.
Technyx Intl re-organizes its internal structural steel detailing activities and launches its Global Detailing Office, combining under a single management resources in Canada, Romania and India. This allows us to operate in a multi-site mode on large projects.
Major upgrades are performed on technical infrastructures and applications in order to facilitate global operations and improve quality and timeliness of services for our customers.
Technyx expands in a new sector for detailing with customers in the wood structures market.
2003
On May 24, 2003 Canam Steel Romania officially opened its new offices at an official ceremony that included Romanian dignitaries and personalities, Canam Manac management and Brasov employees.
In May 2003, the company employed 206 people including 167 engineers. Canam Steel Romania encourages the professional development of its employees through continuous education at its Brasov offices.
France is added as a new market for our services. Collaborations are started with 5 fabricators.
2002
Several new projects begin in partnership with companies in Canada and the United States. The demand for engineering and detailing services from Romania increased as the number of employees grew to 179.
The main work on the new building was completed in July 2002; just nine months after the work began, with a total investment of $5 million. It is time for the team to relocate to its new facility. This corresponds to the change of the company’s name into Canam Steel Romania, in order to adopt the same name and logo as other subsidiaries and divisions of the Canam Manac Group in Canada, the United States, Mexico and India.
Over 100 people have already completed one or more training sessions in Canada, the United States or in France for periods ranging from one to six months.
2001
The space proves to be insufficient for a growing team. The decision is taken, the Romanian company should change its location to a new office building: 9145 square meters surface, five levels, 169 tons of structure. A building planned to receive 400 employees. The construction started in September 2001. By the end of the year, 117 people were working for the company.
2000
26 engineers join the company, bringing the team to a total up to 68 people. Several detailers and engineers are sent to Canada for their first on-site training. This brings back a Romanian team with an improved knowledge and experience to share.
1999
Business continued to grow and thanks to an excellent job of the detailers, the Brasov team delivers its first two buildings on the local market, for Kia Motors at Bucharest. By the end of December, the branch has 42 employees.
1998
Canam Group opened Steel Plus Engineering Services, an engineering and detailing office in Brasov, Romania. The activity started with four engineers only hired to support the engineering teams in North America assisted by three Canadians. The office officially opened in April 1998. By the end of the year, the office had increased to a staff of 26.
